The results of the operation show that the main pollutants of Jingui after treatment are only 11.25% of the national standard, which is better than the industry standard; the COD concentration during discharge is 60 to 80 ppm, the BOD concentration is about 20 ppm, and the discharge of waste water is about 10 tons. All of them meet the emission standards approved by the project and are far superior to other domestic chemical slurry production lines that do not have an alkali recovery system.

The system feeds the pulp slurry pulping wastewater to the alkali recovery plant, where it is concentrated by evaporation and sent to the alkali recovery furnace for combustion. After combustion, the organic matters in the waste water are converted into heat energy, and the alkali in the pollutants is recycled through the causticization process, thereby reducing the difficulty of pollutant treatment and ultimately achieving energy conservation, emission reduction, and clean production. The low-emission technology of chemical mechanical pulp wastewater has been listed in the “Environmental Protection Technology Catalogue Encouraged by the State for Development” of the Ministry of Environmental Protection in 2010, and has become a mature technology for the application of pollutants prevention and control for chemical pulp and chemical mechanical pulp that the country encourages demonstration and promotion.

It is understood that in the process of alkali recovery, a new type of chemical control agent makes some stickies surface passivation or adsorption, and other stickies are emulsified and dispersed or degraded and lose their viscosity. This technology can better deal with the waste liquid produced by the pulping and cooking in the papermaking industry and recycle the cooking alkali to achieve the comprehensive effect of recycling, energy saving and pollution reduction.

Up to now, the system has been operating stably during trial production, the reuse rate of white water reached 80%, the water recycling rate reached 95%, and the recovery rate of alkali in wastewater reached 93%. The conversion of clean hot water collected by the system is equivalent to saving about 33,000 tons of standard coal annually.
