The low-carbon technology of shipbuilding is increasingly strengthening

Energy conservation and emission reduction are two hot topics today, and emissions have become the first driving force for the development of today's marine engines. At the 7th China Dalian International Maritime Exhibition, the forum on the theme of ship-powered low-carbon technology and product innovation attracted attention. Academician Jin Donghan, the 711th Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, proposed that China should vigorously promote the development and application of new technologies for energy saving and emission reduction of marine diesel engines in response to the urgent need for energy saving and emission reduction in global shipping.

According to Feng Mingzhi, deputy director of the 711th Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, China has vigorously promoted the development and application of new technologies for energy saving and emission reduction of marine diesel engines, mainly embodied in high-efficiency energy-saving technologies, new energy technologies, and new technologies for reducing NOx. In terms of the overall design technology of the medium-speed diesel engine and the design technology of each sub-system, the specialized manufacturing technology of the marine diesel engine parts, the core technology of the intelligent control unit of the diesel engine with independent intellectual property rights, and the key technology of energy saving and emission reduction of the marine diesel engine Exhaust aftertreatment devices that meet the requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) emission regulations will be the focus of research.

It is reported that due to the impact of global warming, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has proposed a new shipbuilding energy consumption limit index to reduce greenhouse gas CO2 emissions by reducing carbonaceous fuel consumption, coupled with increasingly stringent regulations on harmful emissions from ships. The demand for low-carbon technology for marine diesel engines is increasing. According to statistics, about 50% of the main ship types (container ships, oil tankers and bulk carriers) built in China in the past ten years cannot meet the requirements of the IMO Ship Energy Consumption Limit Index.
