BMW recalls all i3 electric cars sold in the United States to prevent driver neck injuries

According to foreign media reports, BMW is recalling all 2014 - 2018 i3 electric vehicles sold in the United States to prevent smaller drivers from being exposed to neck injuries if they are not wearing seat belts. According to the service information bulletin published by Electroc, a collision test found that when a BMW i3 encounters a frontal collision, a smaller-sized adult - about 5 feet and 110 pounds - is more likely to suffer a neck injury.
The dealers have been notified to stop selling such vehicles until the repair of the affected 30,542 i3 electric vehicles is completed. BMW said that 29,383 vehicles have been sold in the United States and the remaining 1,159 vehicles are in dealers’ inventory. BMW said that its internal tests did not find this problem, but recent tests on vehicles have yielded different results. BMW issued a statement saying that it will soon issue a remedial measure. BMW said: "BMW's passive safety system has optimized the use of seat belts. BMW i3 owners should be confident. BMW recommends that all owners wear seat belts before driving and do not release their seat belts during the journey."
