Instruments are the brains of machines and equipment. High-precision meters are key components in high-precision equipment and are considered as secrets. A certificate issued by the fifth institute of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation wrote: "The serial digital instruments produced by Fujian Shunchang Hongrun Precision Instrument Co., Ltd. are used in experimental missions such as Shenzhou Manned Spaceship and Lunar Exploration Project. High control accuracy, reliable technology and stable operation."
Such a company actually came from Shunchang County, northern Anhui Province, on the 18th bend of the mountain road. What kind of mystery hides in the unassuming factory door and in the unpretentious factory building that has nurtured such “tall” companies? In the instrument industry is also facing the pressure to remove capacity to inventory, how does it win the market and develop steadily?
Recently, the reporter talked with entrepreneur Lin Shanping in Hongrun's factory area to find out the answer.
Looking back at the way, Lin Shanping's most grieved is that Hongrun has not been moved by the temptation of the outside world for more than 20 years. He has been working hard to achieve a vision of “making world-class instruments and letting Hongrun go to the world” step by step. He attributed the efforts behind this to "artisan spirit."
"Only by crafting the spirit of craftsmen to make every detail, do every product, can we win the vanguard of the industry and be invincible. Only the spirit of craftsman can make the company a 'hundred-year-old shop'. The current supply-side reform requires enterprises and entrepreneurs to set up the spirit of craftsmen, said Lin Shanping.
"Precise" takes the lead and quality is not "nearly"
"The quality of the product can't be said to be 'like'. It's best to do it." Lin said that it is pointing to an automated production line.
The repair rate of Hongrun products has always been hovering at 5%, which is relatively good in the same industry. Many people think that they are “almost”. However, Lin Shanping does not think so. Out of the pursuit of excellence in product quality, he insisted that the technicians think of ways to improve.
For this reason, Hongrun purchased equipment such as automatic high-speed placement machines, software automatic burn-in recorders, fixtures and engraving machines, and laser marking machines. It also spent three and a half years developing R&D machines. It took 20 minutes for manual verification of a meter to be error-prone. Now it is possible to verify 5 units in one minute and it is not wrong. At the same time, we also developed robot spot welding machines, etc. The pass rate of one-time product welding was 99%, and the repair rate was reduced to 5/1000. The customer satisfaction rate rose linearly.
This is just one detail of Hongrun's excellence. Hongrun's “precision” includes fine, accurate, and exquisite products that go through every detail of the entire production process and manufacturing process. This is the industrialization, informationization, and standardization that Lin Shanping has pursued.
All departments of Hongrun have realized information management, such as hanging a LCD screen in the workshop. This is the electronic signboard of Hongrun's production process informationization. With this, the yield, quality, first-pass assembly pass rate, return rate, and production schedule can be seen at a glance and can be controlled in real time.
And on each worker's workbench, there is a monitor, and the worker checks the circuit diagram and operation steps on the screen. The job instructions are displayed on the screen. For more than four years, the company has written more than 5,000 job instructions, covering 90% of the products, and will cover all products in the future.
The original production process is also very good, why do we have to do such a tedious job? Some executives also do not understand it. Originally, due to the special nature of the instrumentation equipment, different wiring practices of workers may produce the same product, but due to the different internal structures, it will cause problems for use and maintenance.
To make products more "fine", we must reconstruct the original operating procedures. Work instructions are written in a meticulous manner, allowing every worker to follow the process to avoid even a slight difference in the product due to personal understanding.
“In addition to standardization, we can really improve the quality of our products. This is also a revolution.” Lin Shanping said that with the work instructions, workers can operate in accordance with the regulations, and they can achieve standardized production. “The production methods are becoming more and more 'fools' and products. Performance is becoming more and more 'intelligent' and customers are getting more and more 'fool'." Because of this, Lin Shanping regarded these instructions as a great asset of the company.
Indeed, Hongrun’s pursuit of “precision” has reached an almost rigid level.
To increase the level of industrialization, Hongrun introduced an enterprise resource management (ERP) system, but it is not a guide. That is, this choice made him have a deeper understanding of the craftsman's spirit: doing one thing for a lifetime. “No matter how the external environment changes, as a craftsman, it is necessary to concentrate on the things to be identified.

With steady adherence and undivided attention, Hongrun established Hongrun’s leading position in the industry and was also the basic skill of Hongrun’s creation of a “hundred-year-old shop” in his heart.
One thing made him feel very emotional. One of the world's top 500 instrument companies in the United States did a lot of research in China, eventually found Hongrun, purchased Hongrun product OEM, and sold it worldwide. Hongrun had a production value of 180 million yuan last year, but the single person's output value reached more than 700,000 yuan. Although the scale is small, it is a typical "high-precision" enterprise and knowledge-intensive enterprise. Knowledge-intensive, it is actually talent-intensive.
