Physics and Chemistry in the wideband nonlinear optical limiting material research has made new progress
Recently, researchers at the Research Center for Specialty Imaging Materials and Technology, Key Laboratory of Photochemical Conversion and Functional Materials, National Institute of Optoelectronics Conversion and Functional Materials, cooperated with Zeng Haibo's group at Nanjing University of Science and Technology to prepare highly crystalline low-layer antimony with high yield by the liquid phase stripping method. The exact atomic structure of antimony was identified by spherical aberration corrected high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. High-concentration (> 1wt%) high-performance optical limiting antimony silicone silicone glass was successfully prepared. In the ultra-wide band of 532 nm to 2000 nm, stirene exhibits excellent laser limiting properties in both suspension and gel glass devices. This work has been filed for national patents and is published on J. Am. Chem. Soc., "Few-layer Antimonene: Large Yield Synthesis, Exact Atomical Structure and Outstanding Optical Limiting". Among them, Assistant Researcher Sun Xingming, physicists and physicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is co-author and Xie Zheng, associate researcher, is co-author.
In this work, Nanjing Polytechnic University using liquid phase stripping method with high yield prepared high crystalline low-level antimony, and identified the exact atomic structure of antimony, physical and chemical evidence of antimony in the field of nonlinear optics as Optical limiting materials have superior properties and the antimony dispersions have better optical limiting capability than graphene dispersions with the same linear transmittance. When the energy density of incident light reaches 40 J / cm 2 under the pulse irradiation of a 532 nm nanosecond laser, the transmittance of the antimony stirene suspension with a linear transmittance of 70% drops to 5%, which means over 90% % Of the energy is limited, and under the same conditions, the transmittance of graphene suspension only dropped to 15%. By analyzing the Z-scan results and the optical limiting properties of antimony in different solvents, it was found that the mechanism of optical limiting of antimony was derived from its nonlinear absorption and nonlinear refractive power.

At the same time, the physical and chemical prepared antimony high concentration of uniformly doped silicone gel glass, antimony in the gel glass doping concentration can reach more than 1%. The results show that the gel glass has excellent optical limiting properties over a very wide spectral range (532-2000 nm). Compared with the graphene-doped silicone gel glass, the antimony-based glass is colorless and transparent under normal visible light to near-infrared light with an optical transmittance of substantially 90% , While graphene-based glass has become gray-black, indicating that antimony-based glass is more practical and meaningful. Antimony-based glass prepared also has excellent environmental stability, and can be cut, polished and optical processing, is conducive to the subsequent device.

Since the discovery of graphene, two-dimensional materials have attracted the attention of researchers for their unique properties. A series of new two-dimensional semiconductors have been continuously explored. In 2014, Zhang Yuanbo and other research groups from Fudan University and Zeng Haibo Group from Nanjing University of Science and Technology independently prepared and proposed the fifth main enamel, such as two-dimensional black phosphorus, arsine and antimony, for the first time. Based on the above work, this dissertation reveals for the first time in the world that stirene has excellent properties in the field of nonlinear optics. It can not only provide an ultra-wideband nonlinear optical limiting material for optics, Antimony, represented by the two-dimensional materials to open up new areas of research and application.
