Dalian Institute of Physics: flow battery non-fluorine porous ion conductive membrane made a series of progress
Recently, a research team led by Zhang Huamin and Li Xianfeng, researcher of Energy Storage Technology Research Department (DNL17) made a series of progresses in the research on non-fluorinated porous ion conductive membrane for flow battery.
The team confirmed through research that constructing crosslinked network structures can effectively improve membrane selectivity and stability (Advanced Functional Materials, 2015, 25 (17): 2583-2589). At the same time, the cross-linked network structure is introduced into the pore structure of the non-fluorine porous ion conductive membrane, which greatly improves the selectivity and stability of the non-fluorine porous ion conductive membrane in the flow battery operating environment. The developed membrane material in liquid Flow battery operating continuously over 6000 cycles, performance remained stable. Relevant results are published in Advanced Functional Materials (Advanced Functional Materials, 2016, 26 (2), 210-218).
In order to solve the conflict between selectivity and conductivity of non-fluorinated porous ion-conducting membranes and to further improve the performance of non-fluorinated porous ion-conducting membranes, the team successfully developed high selectivity, high conductivity, low conductivity Cost non-fluorinated porous ion conductive membrane; the assembled cell material assembled battery at 80mA / cm2 charge and discharge conditions, the energy efficiency of more than 90%, and after more than 10,000 charge-discharge cycle inspection, the battery performance no significant attenuation , Showing excellent stability. The results of the study were selected for publication in Energy & Environmental Science 2016, 9, 441-447 and highly praised by reviewers. Reviewers believe that this is a pioneering work from the authoritative research group of the flow battery, which has long-term significance for the development of the all-vanadium flow battery. This is a ground breaking membrane work in the well-respected group. Their effort and novelty are to be commended, which will have immediate and long-lasting impact for the vanadium redox flow battery technology.
