According to Ma Qisheng, in 2007, the import and export of woodworking machinery trade in China reached a historical high. Before 2008, the woodworking trade in China showed a deficit, but after 2008, a surplus began to appear. With the recovery of the industry, trade in 2011 was once again in deficit.

The data show that in 2011, China's woodworking machinery trade remained basically stable, the import and export volume reached 1.712 billion U.S. dollars, and it was exported to more than 150 countries and regions in the world, and Europe was the most important partner in China's woodworking machinery trade. From January to September 2012, the total import and export of woodworking trade in China was 1.18 billion U.S. dollars, which was a downward trend compared with the same period of last year, of which exports were 705 million U.S. dollars, down 8.27% year-on-year.

Ma Qisheng said that there is still a gap between the level of woodworking machinery in China and the world's advanced level. To promote the healthy development of the industry, enterprises must be honest and self-discipline, and strengthen brand building.

The general manager of the German Federation of Machinery and Equipment Manufacturing said that in 2012 German woodworking machinery was the main source of imports, with China ranking first.
