Effect of slurry concentration on flotation effect
Flotation concentration is an important technical parameter in the operation of flotation technology. The concentration of pulp has certain influence on technical and economic indicators such as concentrate grade, recovery rate, pharmaceutical and water and electricity consumption. It is now described as follows:
1. Influence on flotation time After the production scale of the flotation plant is determined, the slurry flow rate entering the flotation operation is certain under a certain slurry concentration. When the concentration of the slurry increases or decreases, the slurry flow rate also decreases or increases, and the residence time of the slurry in the flotation machine is prolonged or shortened, as shown in the figure. The change in flotation time directly affects the recovery rate and quality of concentrate products.
2. Influence on the volume concentration of the agent The amount of a certain agent used in the flotation plant is calculated by the number of grams of the drug required to select one ton of raw ore (g/ton). If the dosage of the unit is the same, then the volume concentration of the agent in the slurry will change with the increase or decrease of the concentration of the slurry, as shown in the figure. In the flotation process, for a certain mineral, it is often necessary to calculate the dosage of the agent by the amount of the agent, which is “deficient†or “excessiveâ€, which causes adverse conditions and affects the flotation index.
3. Influence on slurry aeration The effect of slurry concentration on the amount of aeration is shown in curve 1 of the above figure. If the concentration of the slurry is too large or too small, it will affect the aeration of the slurry. In general, a larger amount of aeration can increase the production capacity of the flotation machine and achieve better flotation indicators.
So, how to choose a suitable pulp concentration?
The concentration of the slurry is determined by the nature of the ore and the flotation conditions. The general principle is: when the ore has a large specific gravity and the ore has a coarse grain size, coarse selection and sweeping operations should use a larger flotation concentration. On the contrary, the ore has a small specific gravity, a fine particle size, a selective operation, or a mixed concentrate separation operation, and a lower concentration is preferred. The flotation concentration in the production practice: rough selection 25 ~ 45%, select 10 ~ 20%, sweep 20 ~ 30%.
