High-strength pure basalt continuous fiber was successfully developed
On February 15, Dai Cunwu, general manager of Hebei Tonghui Technology Co., Ltd., said with excitement that Tonghui recently successfully developed high-strength pure basalt continuous fiber production technology. Products tested by the authority of the detection department, its fracture strength stabilized at 0.6 ~ 0.7N/tex, much higher than the national standard 0.4N/tex. This breakthrough has made China's basalt fiber technology into the world's leading ranks.
The new process selects a basalt ore with uniform crystalline structure, no impurities, and high purity as a single raw material. At the same time, the ore contains oxides with acidity, viscosity and melting temperature controllable, the ore does not need to be crushed into powder, and no chemical purification or iron removal is needed, and the filament yarn production rate produced by the ore is increased by 10%. Relevant experts say that it is not easy to increase the breaking strength of basalt fiber by 0.01N/tex, while Tonghui has increased by 0.2~0.3N/tex.
The basalt continuous fiber produced from basalt can be used as a substitute for steel and aluminum alloys, and it can be applied to fire protection, environmental protection, aerospace, military and other fields. Basalt continuous fiber research as an emerging strategic industry has been included in the national "863" plan, and is listed as one of the country's key high-tech fiber development.
Dai Cunwu stated that improving the quality of basalt continuous fibers, reducing costs, and expanding special applications are his main thrust for many years. Due to the different distribution regions, ore points, layers, and locations of basalt ores, their basic oxide properties are also different and the chemical composition fluctuates greatly. It is not that any basalt ore can produce stable, high-performance continuous basalt fibers. Dai Cunwu and his assistants ran many basalt distribution sites and carefully selected and produced high-strength basalt fiber ore. After one year of trial and error and process improvement, high-strength pure basalt continuous fibers finally came out. At present, products made from this kind of fiber have been tested in wind power generation, automobile industry, environmental protection, and electric power, which not only meets the needs of special industries, but also reduces raw material usage and saves costs.
