Tektronix oscilloscopes nominated for Test & Measurement World's Best Product Award

On November 23, 2011, Tektronix, the world's leading oscilloscope market leader, announced that the Tektronix MDO4000 Mixed Domain Oscilloscope Series has been nominated for Test and Measurement World's Best in Test 2012 Product of the Year Award. The revolutionary new MDO4000 is the world’s first oscilloscope with a built-in spectrum analyzer that helps design engineers save time by capturing time-dependent analog, digital, serial, and RF signals on a test instrument.

The Bestin Test 2012 award recognizes innovative products that were introduced between November 1, 2010 and September 30, 2011. Finalist products are selected by the publisher's editorial department in the products submitted by suppliers. A total of 17 categories of award-winning products will be decided on-line by readers of the magazine from now until December 16. The final award-winning product will be announced at the 2012 DesignCon Design Conference held on January 31, 2012.

The MDO4000 Series oscilloscopes were introduced on August 30th and are tailored to meet the needs of more than 60% of oscilloscope users. When troubleshooting the wireless embedded systems, these users also need to use a spectrum analyzer together. As the world's first oscilloscope with integrated spectrum analyzer capabilities, the MDO4000 provides a unique tool suite that can save engineers days, or even weeks, of debugging time.

With the MDO4000, engineers can replace oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers with a single tester. In this way, they can continue to use the oscilloscope, a preferred tool, to observe the frequency domain without having to find another spectrum analyzer and relearn. During commissioning, the MDO provides features that cannot be provided by a typical spectrum analyzer, allowing the user to capture 4 analog, 16 digital, and 1 RF channel time-correlated analog, digital, and RF signals. The use of two instruments, respectively, is almost impossible to accurately correlate multi-domain signals. The MDO4000 pioneered a new test concept that simplifies the routine commissioning of today's integrated wireless systems. For example, engineers can now easily measure the time it takes for the RF power amplifier to turn on after the device serial bus issues a command.
