UHV: Starting from scratch to master core technology
To achieve a large number of long-distance power transmission, UHV transmission technology is the key.
In the early stage of the development of power transmission from west to east, the construction of ultra-high voltage direct current transmission projects relied on foreign technology. In 2000, when the Tianguang DC project was completed and put into production, the project introduced a full set of foreign products, and the project autonomy rate was almost zero. In 2010, the world's leading ±800 kV UHV DC transmission project - Yunguang UHV DC project was completed and put into operation, and the comprehensive localization rate of engineering complete sets of equipment exceeded 62%. Relying on the project's major scientific research project - UHV ± 800 kV DC transmission project, won the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
In 2016, China Southern Power Grid Corporation once again challenged the innovative technology of DC transmission. The world's first back-to-back project with flexible DC and conventional DC combination mode was completed and put into production, and the comprehensive self-governing rate of the project reached 100%.
Today, West Power East brings together the more advanced and complete UHV DC transmission technology in the world today. UHV has become another national business card after high-speed rail and nuclear power.
At present, China Southern Power Grid Corporation is stepping up efforts to promote a number of new projects with high technology content and good ecological benefits. On December 11, Wudongde Power Station sent electricity to Guangdong Guangxi UHV multi-terminal DC demonstration project started construction. This is the world's leading UHV multi-terminal hybrid DC transmission project, which will be of great significance to promote the clean energy consumption in the west and serve the construction of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau.
