EET develops composite SeaUrchin tidal turbine
It is said that SeaUrchin is half the cost of manufacturing, installation and maintenance of marine generator sets. The electricity generated by the turbine comes from free-flowing ocean currents, tides and rivers. No dams or dams are needed, which reduces the environmental impact. The turbine was developed by Element Energy Technology Ltd. (EET), based in Sydney, Australia. The 2 kW SeaUrchin prototype currently being tested is about 1.2 meters long and has an outer diameter of about 1.1 meters. All structural components use composite materials, and only electrical components, shafts and bearings are produced using other materials.
